- December 16 – 20, 2019: All parking regulations will be enforced.
- December 21, 2019 – January 1, 2020: NIU parking permits are not required on campus. Exception: NIU reserved space permits are required in the appropriate reserved parking space, even when the University is closed. Please display your reserved parking permit in your reserved space during the closure. Parking regulations that will be enforced during the holiday closure period include the following: reserved parking, no parking zones (including fire lanes), handicapped spaces, and parking lots that are enforced at all times. Parking lots that are enforced at all times are identified on the parking map as having a black square around the parking lot number (i.e.: Lot 18 at Neptune Hall).

This memo has been distributed by email to all faculty and staff and can be found at: www.hr.niu.edu. Paper copies will only be sent to departments with limited email access for posting.
Please note: This memo was updated on July 8, 2020, to reflect that Illinois Governor JB Pritzker signed a new law in June 2020 declaring Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3, a state holiday for 2020. NIU will observe the paid holiday by closing our offices and cancelling classes on Nov. 3.
