Reminder: ePerformance Collection Tool Goes Live Next Week

Colleagues,

This is a reminder that HRS will go live with the ePerformance Collection Tool next Wednesday, August 5, 2026. The process kicks off with an automated email to all employees who will receive an annual evaluation.

A few things to keep in mind:

    • Evaluation forms will be created in the system on Wednesday, August 5, but not until later in the day. If you log in Wednesday morning and do not see anything in your queue, that is expected. Check back Thursday.
    • Not all civil service employees will be in your queue or receive an email. Two things determine who is in this cycle. First, the December 31 cutoff: employees with a job entry date between July 1 and December 31 are included. Anyone who already received a review earlier this year, through June, will not be reviewed again in this cycle. Second, probation: employees currently serving probation, or who completed probation after March 31, 2026, are not part of this cycle.
    • The ePerformance Collection Tool collects the evaluation you give to your employee. The evaluation document itself lives outside the Collection Tool.
    • The week of August 3, we will send you the current competencies you use for your civil service employee(s). Going forward, you can modify the competencies or grab a new form here: https://www.niu.edu/hrs/departments-managers/develop-retain/reviews.shtml
    • The evaluation tools are different for SPS and Civil Service. Civil Service uses the approved competencies and templates, while SPS is usually provided a narrative response. It is fine to copy and paste that narrative into the comments box in the Collection Tool.
    • Training and additional resources are here: https://www.niu.edu/hrs/departments-managers/develop-retain/reviews.shtml

One more thing: please wrap up all changes to your reporting lines in Manager Self-Service by the end of today.

All department heads (or their delegates) need to confirm that the reporting lines for their unit are accurate and make changes where necessary. To review this in MyNIU:

    1. Go to MyNIU (https://myniu.niu.edu/) or use Quick Links on the NIU homepage, then select the “MyNIU Employee Human Resource System” panel.
    2. Sign in using Single Sign-On or your NIU User ID (employee ID) and password.
    3. Select the “Manager Self-Service” portal in the top left of the screen.
    4. Click the “Update Team Information” tile to review your current reporting structure.
    5. Follow the prompts to “Request Report Change” for an individual employee or “Update Job Details for Group” to move multiple employees at once.

If you have any questions, please let us know.
