(This email concerns SPS and Status Civil Service Employee Annual Evaluations.)
Colleagues,
On Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2026, HRS went live with the ePerformance Collection Tool, our new system for collecting annual performance evaluations. The process kicked off with an automated email to all employees who will receive an annual evaluation this cycle.
If you received that email, you can start your self-evaluation now. You do not need to wait for your supervisor to reach out.
Here is how the process runs from here:
- You complete your self-evaluation and share it with your supervisor.
- Your supervisor prepares your evaluation using the appropriate form for your employee group.
- You and your supervisor meet to discuss it.
- Your supervisor enters the completed evaluation into the Collection Tool.
- You receive a notification to review and acknowledge the evaluation in the tool.
A few things to keep in mind:
- Not every employee will receive an email. Two things determine who is in this cycle. First, the Dec. 31 cutoff: employees with a job entry date between July 1 and Dec. 31 are included, so anyone who already received a review earlier this year, through June, will not be reviewed again right away. Second, probation: employees currently serving probation, or who completed probation after March 31, 2026, are not part of this cycle. If you did not receive an email, no action is needed on your part.
- The Collection Tool is where your completed evaluation is recorded. Your supervisor prepares the evaluation itself, then enters it into the tool.
- The evaluation format differs by employee group. Civil service employees are evaluated using approved competencies and templates, while SPS employees typically receive a narrative response.
If you have questions about the process or want to learn more, resources are available on ourĀ Human Resource Services website.
Your supervisor will be in touch as part of the evaluation process. If you have any questions, please let us know HumanResources@niu.edu.
