The NIU Department of Police and Public Safety has published an updated version of the NIU Emergency Response Guide (ERG). The guide is designed to provide basic safety information and instruction for many different types of emergencies. The information is designed to assist students, faculty, staff and visitors with responding safely during a crisis situation.
Supervisors are encouraged to review the guide with employees and ensure that all employees are familiar with the safety information included within the ERG. The information in the Emergency Response Guide is reevaluated regularly and updates are made in accordance with new information on best practices.
Additional safety can be found on the Department of Police and Public Safety website. The NIU PD offers regular trainings in CPR/First Aid and A.L.I.C.E. seminars for violent threat response. Contact them at 753-1212 for further information on times and scheduling.
