Updates to Reporting Lines: Your Action Needed

(This email was sent to department heads and business managers. Please forward to anyone you will identify as your delegate.)

As Human Resource Services (HRS) prepares to launch ePeformance (online collection tool for performance evaluations) and UKG Ready (SOEEA, online time and benefit reporting), every employee needs an accurate, documented supervisor in the MyNIU Employee Human Resource System. The listed supervisor should be the person who completes and delivers the employee’s performance evaluation and approves their Hourly Time Sheet or Salaried Benefit Usage Report.

What do you need to do?

All department heads (or their delegates) need to confirm that the reporting lines for their unit are accurate and make changes where necessary. This can be done by reviewing the information in Manager Self-Service in MyNIU:

    1. Go to MyNIU (or use Quick Links on the NIU homepage) and select the “MyNIU Employee Human Resource System” panel.
    2. Sign in using Single Sign-On or by entering your NIU User ID (employee ID) and password.
    3. Select the “Manager Self-Service” portal in the top left of the screen.
    4. Click on the “Update Team Information” tile to review current reporting structure.
    5. Follow the prompts to “Request Report Change” for an individual employee or “Update Job Details for Group” to move multiple employees at the same time.

When is the deadline?

Update all reporting lines by Friday, July 31. HRS launches the annual performance evaluation process following these updates, and evaluations will be created and assigned based on the reporting lines in the system at that time.

Need help?

    1. The HRS website has job aids and videos that explain how to use Manager Self-Service, how to reassign direct reports and how to set up delegation to have a trusted partner assist you with completing this task.
    2. HRS will host a brief training session on July 22 at 10 a.m., where we will review how to complete these actions. A meeting invitation is coming; forward it to your delegate if someone else will handle this for you. The session will be recorded.
    3. The weekly Position Funding Summary report shows all the employees in your department and to whom they report. Use it to view your current structure and your updated structure after you make any changes. This report is created weekly on Mondays. Please reference the report created on Monday, July 20, as HR processed several changes in the system this week that will not be reflected until that report is created.
    4. Any questions that remain after using these resources should be directed to HumanResources@niu.edu.
