Human Resource Services would like to remind you that the annual Benefit Choice period for FY2021 will end on Monday, June 1, 2020. All changes in coverage will be effective on July 1, 2020. Employees are encouraged to visit the State of Illinois MyBenefits website and review the FY21 Benefit Choice Booklet for detailed information. The NIU HRS website has also been updated as a resource for employees.
All FY2021 Benefit Choice changes and elections will be processed through the MyBenefits website. Employees wishing to make a change to their insurance must process the change on the MyBenefits website before midnight on June 1, 2020. Employees should contact MyBenefits Service Center at (844) 251-1777 or (844) 251-1778 (TTD/TTY) with questions about navigating the MyBenefits website or for assistance with Benefit Choice changes and elections. Representatives are available Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Central time.
Flexible Spending Accounts
Employees who participate in the Flexible Spending Account (MCAP and/or DCAP) program must re-enroll every year, and this enrollment will also need to be processed on the MyBenefits website. However, Central Management Services has recently issued new information based on Internal Revenue Service guidance for these plans as a result of the COVID-19 situation. If you currently participate in the MCAP or DCAP program, please be sure to review this new information before the end of the Benefit Choice period as it may impact your FY21 elections.
Documentation Deadlines
If you are adding a dependent to your coverage, you must upload the required documentation to the MyBenefits website to complete the enrollment no later than June 10, 2020. Failure to provide adequate documentation by this deadline, will result in dependents not being added to your plan. Please note, any documentation received after June 1, 2020, may result in a delay of ID cards.
If you are a full-time employee electing to opt out of health coverage, you must provide proof of other coverage. Required documentation must be uploaded to the MyBenefits website to complete the enrollment no later than June 10, 2020. Failure to provide adequate documentation by this deadline, will result in cancelation of your request to opt out of coverage.
NIU Sick Leave Bank
Please also be reminded that the enrollment window for the NIU sick leave bank for regular employees will also end on Monday, June 1, 2020. Employees interested in joining should visit the NIU HRS website for more information and to complete the sick leave bank online enrollment form.
