With the resumption of face-to-face classes and activities on Monday, Sept. 28, student employees should return to performing their usual duties either in person or remotely (whichever way they were working before the two-week pause) as specified by their supervisor, and they will be paid for their actual hours worked. Hiring of student employees to perform on-campus duties can resume as well. Please share this information with employees who supervise student employees in your area.
Please be reminded that if the student employee is not able to work in person or remotely because their health has been impacted by COVID-19 or because they are in quarantine due to symptoms or exposure, they can apply to be paid for their normal scheduled work hours over a two-week period using the single-use Family First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) Benefit. Please refer the student employee to the information on applying for this benefit on the HRS website.
Student employees also will receive this information in a communication today. Supervisors are encouraged to communicate with their student employees about returning to work as well.
